Naan Recipe | Butter Naan Recipe : Complete information with step by step photos and videos. Naan bread recipe is generally made with yeast, which helps in preparing pliable and soft dough. In this recipe, instead of yeast, I have used a mixture of baking soda and baking powder, which can prepare the same dough. It is kept for a few hours, then it is rolled into an oval and baked in a tandoor, oven or pan.

I have mentioned some Indian bread or naan recipes earlier also, but this is a very simple and famous recipe. I mostly make this recipe and I either turn the pan upside down or put it in the cooker. I have also tried making it in the oven, but I always cook it upside down. But in reality it is not at all like naan made in tandoor. Apart from this, I have also prepared it by filling it with mashed potatoes which almost looks like Aloo Kulcha.

Homemade naan bread recipe is very easy, still I would like to give some tips for the best recipe. Knead the dough well to make it soft and chewy. The more you knead it, the tastier it will become. Once the dough is ready, keep it in a warm place for fermentation. Apart from this, if you live in a cold area, you can also keep it in a preheated oven. You can easily make Butter Garlic Naan by mixing finely chopped garlic in melted butter and applying it on the prepared naan.

How to make butter naan with step by step:

  • First of all, take flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, curd and oil in a big bowl.
  • Now mix everything well.
  • After this, add lukewarm water to it and knead it for 10 minutes.
  • Knead soft dough by adding more water if necessary.
  • Now cover it with a wet cloth and keep it in a warm place for 2 hours.
  • After 2 hours, knead the dough lightly so that the air present in it comes out. Now take a small ball sized dough.
  • Roll it into an oval shape with the help of a rolling pin. Do not make it too thick or too thin. It should not be bigger than your pan.
  • Apply water evenly on the naan, this helps it stick to the pan easily.
  • After this, gently turn it over and place it on a hot pan. Keep in mind that keep the water-soaked surface on the pan and do not use non-stick pan.
  • Press it lightly. This helps the naan to stick to the pan and it remains stuck even when you turn the pan upside down.
  • Now after a minute, reverse the pan and cook the naan on direct flame, until it turns golden brown.
  • Apply butter mixed with coriander on it with the help of a brush.
  • Now take out the naan slowly.
  • finally, serve hot butter naan with your favorite curry like matar paneer.
